The Peninsula Radiology Academy holds two FRCR 2b revision courses every year. These will feature rapid reporting, long case and viva sessions.
The venue is a state of the art Radiology training facility in Plymouth, near Derriford Hospital. Travel links are excellent as the Academy is only 1.2 miles from Plymouth airport and 4.2 miles from Plymouth train station. Discounted accommodation is available within 10-15 minutes walk. The course comprises of:
Images will be viewed using Osirix software formatted to the RCR style with accompanying answer sheet mirroring the exam format. Each set will take 30 minutes and comprise of 30 films. Four sets will be presented in two sessions, a third session will review the cases already seen and discuss techniques, pitfalls and take questions.
Long cases will also be viewed in an Osirix template along with answer sheets in the FRCR 2b formate. This course provides a great opportunity to become familiar with Osirix under examination conditions and each delegate will have their own workstation. Answer sheets will be hand written and double marked using the FRCR marking system. Answer sheets will be returned with final score and comments. Each long case set will be formally reviewed with all candidates and examiners, outlining the scoring system with emphasis on examination technique.
Viva groups will comprise of two examiners and two candidates. Each candidate will be examined for 10-15 minutes by each examiner (total 30 minutes per viva) with feedback following the session. The two candidates will then swap and the process repeated. One candidate will be observing at any one time. The examinees will change partners over the two days. They will be awarded a mark by each examining pair as per exam.
There will be a talk on examination style and technique. Long cases will be reviewed in three separate sessions as sets are completed.
A course meal is included in the price. This will take place at the nearby Jack Rabbit Innkeeper Lodge for delegate convenience.
